DonateAPC is a free matchmaking service for individuals to donate their unwanted computers, printers and accessories. This service is particularly suited to those with one or two items to donate. All items collected go to UK charities, not-for-profit organisations and educational establishments:


Pass IT On is a Scottish charity which accepts donations of computers and IT equipment. The donated materials are adapted and given, usually free of charge, to people with disabilities in Edinburgh and surrounding areas (EH postcodes). In particular they are looking for PCs (Pentium 1.3 GHZ or faster); working laser printers or colour deskjet printers; monitors (17' or larger or any sizes TFT) and licensed software. Please check the website for current requirements.


REUSING IT accept donations from individuals and organisations of Pentium 3 computers or above, preferably with USBs and CD-ROM drives. They are sent to well established projects in Africa with the aim of sustainable development through the use of a computer. Contact Ross Cockburn:

User 2 Computers sells reconditioned and custom built PCs, laptops and peripherals using second hand parts wherever possible. They will also upgrade and repair computers and accept some old computers for disposal.

WEEEP accepts computers for disposal for a small charge. Computers will be stripped for spares first then recycled in Scotland. WEEEP provide a data destruction service to completely wipe all data from the hard disk drive or just simply destroy the hard disk, and will recycle equipment according to the WEEE Directive. A mobile PC repair service is also available for a small charge.
