PACKAGING

recycle:

You can reduce packaging waste by buying items loose and choosing items that are not over-packaged. See PLASTIC for details of shops who offer a refill service and tips on how to reduce plastic packaging.

For details on how to recycle other packaging materials: See GLASS, See CARD/CARDBOARD and See PLASTIC.

The following materials can be taken to the Packaging Recycling Points in Edinburgh: food and drink cans; food tins; envelopes; clean aluminium foil; empty aerosol cans; plastic bottles; cardboard and cardboard drink cartons (e.g. Tetra Paks). See Recycling Points In Edinburgh.

Please deposit items loose, not in plastic bags. Remove lids and wash out cans, tins, drink cartons and plastic bottles. Flatten cardboard and plastic bottles. NB. only plastic bottles are collected for recycling at the moment, therefore no other types of plastic should be taken to the Packaging Recycling Points. This is due to the fact that there is currently very little demand for other types of plastic from the UK plastic manufacturers.
